The NATO Council of Canada Hosts a Successful Forum on Investment and Business Opportunities in South Eastern Europe

Toronto, ON, March 6, 2014

Otoole TPAOn Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Ontario Investment and Trade Centre, The NATO Council of Canada was proud to host the Forum on Investment and Business Opportunities in South Eastern Europe. The full day event brought together investors, businesses and government representatives from across South Eastern Europe and Canada to learn about specific projects and opportunities for investment in the South Eastern European region. Speakers at the event included: Julie Lindhout, President, NATO Council of Canada; Hon. Hugh Segal, Chair of the NATO Council of Canada; Hon. Jerry Naumoff, Macedonian Minister of Foreign Investment and Erin O’Toole, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade. Mr. O’Toole specifically praised the council for its work “I know the NATO Council’s inherent role in promoting defence and security amongst the member countries”

Robert Baines, Corporate Development Officer, NATO Council of Canada shared his vision for what the event would accomplish by ensuring that attendees could, “see what can be created as opposed to just talking shop. I think that’s extremely valuable”

Attendees praised Canadian enterprises for their, “standards of excellence” and “corporate social responsibility”

In his closing keynote address, Parliamentary Secretary O’Toole stressed how important it will continue to be for Canada to look beyond North America for investment opportunities. “Diversification has been critical to our long term success and in many ways our government, I would suggest to you, is making up for probably twenty-five to forty years of not diversifying”

Without the support of generous sponsors this event would not have been possible and The NATO Council would like to acknowledge and thank:
