NAOC Essay Competition Winners & Runner-ups!

We are extremely pleased to announce the winners of our annual NAOC Essay Competition!

In the Grade 9 and 10 category, Kiera Machat from Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford NS placed first! Samantha Ford from the University of Toronto Schools in Toronto ON was the first runner-up and Ali Al-Saady from Saint Francis Xavier High School in Ottawa ON was our second runner-up!

In the Grade 11 and 12 category, Aakash Budhera from the University of Toronto Schools placed first! Adam Johnson from Cairine Wilson Secondary School in Orleans ON was the first runner-up and Brendon Hossac from Notre Dame High School in Calgary AB was the second runner-up!

Congratulations again to all of our winners and thank you to all of our participants! The winning essays will be published on our website on December 21, 22 and 23 – make sure to check them out!

Jemma Finnegan
Jemma Finnegan is the Program Editor for Global Horizons at the NATO Association of Canada. Jemma recently graduated from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland with an MA Honours Degree in International Relations and Social Anthropology. Her research interests are focused on Global Public Policy, avenues of International Governance and Conflict Intervention. Jemma has conducted research for the Sentinel Project relating to the emergence and development of genocide in the Central African Republic and has supported the implementation of poverty alleviation programs both locally and abroad in communities in Uganda. Jemma hopes to continue her studies and pursue a Masters Degree in International Public Policy. Jemma can be reached at jemmafinnegan@gmail.com
